Toasting Nuts & Seeds

 

Toasting Nuts & Seeds brings out their flavors and makes them easier to grind.

Heat a heavy, dry skillet over medium-low heat. Add nuts or seeds and cook, stirring frequently, for 3 minutes, or until lightly browned and fragrant. Remove from heat at this point before the nuts or seeds burn. Let cool. You can store in a covered container in the refrigerator for several weeks.

OR

Preheat the oven to 425°.

Lightly spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Put pecans or walnuts on the prepared baking sheet and toast them until they become aromatic; about 5 minutes. Watch closely as they are easily burnt.
